Human: *Please like and share! This helps get this into the hands of the people who need it most.* OpenTibia is a groundbreaking 3D printed training device designed specifically for tibial IO access. Demonstration Video: https://youtu.be/M2R9BBb9_cE I created OpenTibia in response to the pressing need for an inexpensive and easily accessible training aid for medical communities in developing countries. Currently, I use this device for training in Haiti. Disclosure/Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with Ez IO or its parent company Teleflex. I received no compensation for creating this innovative training device. My opinions of this simulation aid are based solely on personal experience as a critical care flight paramedic. Because the suggested materials haven't been tested to prove accurate representation of bone or tissue density, this model could potentially cause damage to the IO insertion needle, driver, or lead to inaccurate simulations. Use of this device is at your own risk and should not be used as a replacement for proper medical training. Please follow local policies, guidelines, and protocols when using OpenTibia. Special thanks go to Steph Piper (sjpiper145) for creating the original anatomic model! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1030467 The model was designed to incorporate a 20ml syringe with a nominal diameter of 20.5mm. Actual size and fit may vary depending on manufacturer, printer accuracy, and settings. OpenTibia is printed in two parts: The OpenTibia base holds the smaller OpenTibia replacement site of the proximal tibial plateau, allowing for easy and inexpensive model restoration after several access attempts. The skin is simulated with "foam" medical tape. Approximately 4-5 layers should be sufficient to simulate the dermal layers lying superficial to the tibia. Please contact me with any feedback or suggestions! Tips and donations are greatly appreciated but not required.
