OpenTactics Rules Page
thingiverse
Hey, everyone! This page serves as an update space for the rules of our 3D-print-and-play game, OpenTactics. We're running multiple collections on Thingiverse that catalog various sets, characters, and terrain we design for the game. However, this specific space will house the core rules PDF that we'll be updating as changes occur and new material gets added. Our ultimate goal is to enable you to create your own characters using our library of models, models designed by other creators on Thingiverse or established manufacturers, or custom-made models. If you design your own content and want to contribute it to the game, let us know, and we'll consider adding it to the expanding canon. We envision OpenTactics as a community-driven, open-source gaming experience where players and designers share their ideas. In addition, the activation counters included here can be used in place of the traditional five you would use, each granting a special effect when played. SWORD offers a bonus re-roll to the OFF die during the re-roll phase, SHIELD provides a bonus re-roll to the DEF die during the re-roll phase, BOOT allows for an additional movement distance during a movement, charge, or deployment, ARROW adds one range value during a Ballistic or Arcane assault, and one blank counter that offers no special benefit. You can expect files here to change frequently, but I'll make sure to keep an update log going in the comments. If you're interested, feel free to watch this page for any updates. This game is still in its beta stage, but we've had fantastic play tests so far and are eager to refine it into something exceptional. OpenTactics has also become available on Steam Workshops for Tabletop Simulator! If you have that program and prefer playing there instead of in-person, we plan to continue updating the content here. Tabletop Simulator makes this game more accessible to those without access to 3D printing. We've set up a Patreon page for anyone interested in supporting us so we can create more free and open-sourced games like OpenTactics, Pocket-Tactics, Discord, and others, as well as our growing collection of gaming miniatures that you're welcome to use freely. (Psst... we take requests and commissions...)
