A 30mm ThorLabs cage system component, designed to mount a pinhole with XY positioning micrometer screw knobs, or even a blank cage section for blocking light. This cage system piece fits perfectly into the existing setup, allowing precise adjustment of the pinhole distance from the light source in an optics experiment. Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: 0.06 Infill: 100% Notes: Printing vertical holes with PLA plastic produces a hole smaller than required. To achieve the desired 6mm diameter, set the hole diameter to 6.4mm to 6.45mm and test a small cube with a hole first. Post-Printing The ER holes are tapped at the ends, but the bottom side gets slightly smeared during printing. Cutting all around the edges with a surgical blade produces a good finish, also removing any threads that may result from head movement between parts during print. How I Designed This This model's design is based on the DXF CAD files provided by Thorlabs on their website, usually found on the product page. These files are marked "for reference only and not for manufacturing," as they may not be to scale. I used the file to create an outline in Inkscape, exported it as a dxf, and then imported it into OpenSCAD for linear extrusion to any desired part width. The holes were placed using dimensions from the datasheet.
