OpenSCAD highlighter for Notepad++
thingiverse
Like nerd256 who added an OpenScad syntax highlighter to Linux's Kate editor, I uploaded my version for Notepad++ on Windows. Discover more details on my projects blog here: https://theheadlesssourceman.wordpress.com/2014/03/24/openscad-highlighter-for-notepad/. UPDATE: After using it, I found some quirks that are now fixed in v2.0. UPDATE 2: Instructions on launching OpenSCAD with the current file from Notepad++ are available! UPDATE 3: Install instructions have been revised. To install code highlighting, download the XML config file from the provided link. In Notepad++, go to Language->Define Your Language, then click Import and select the XML file. Save it with a name. For .scad files to reflect the changes, choose OpenScad from the Language menu. To open a scad file in OpenSCAD from Notepad++: hit F5, type "C:\Program Files\OpenSCAD\openscad.exe" "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)" (adjust if needed), and save with a creative name. Now, there should be a new entry in the run menu that opens a new OpenSCAD instance with the current file. To launch OpenSCAD with the current file in Notepad++: go to Run->Run... and type "C:\Program Files\OpenSCAD\openscad.exe" "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenSCAD\openscad.exe" "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)", depending on your OpenSCAD installation. Save with a menu name and shortcut. For an improved OpenSCAD experience with Notepad++, hide the internal editor by checking View->Hide Editor, and enable automatic reload and preview under Design->Automatic reload and preview.
With this file you will be able to print OpenSCAD highlighter for Notepad++ with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on OpenSCAD highlighter for Notepad++.
