This project required creating full-string layouts using the excellent DraFont library extension. By default, it outputs all ASCII characters from a font and features a string-laying method. For the bold, there's a GitHub repo at https://github.com/pipakin/OpenSCAD-Font-Importer (not for the faint of heart due to subpar Python skills). Note that complex glyphs may take long to render, and lengthy strings can crash OpenSCAD. "FONTZ!" takes 1m30s while "This is a test string." takes significantly longer (around 13 minutes). To use this, generate the string, render it, then output an STL for your design with import_stl. The repo removed Arial font due to licensing and substituted FreeSerif. USAGE: python full_ddump -f [font file] -o [output file] -m [module name], optional parameters include strings file name, character size, z height of characters, and hex unicode values for starting and ending characters. The scad file must include the produced scad, which references font_base.scad. Call the module with a letter or ordinal for rendering a single letter, or use string layouts from a provided strings file.
