OpenSCAD Font Importer 1.1
thingiverse
This library, an extension of donb's DraFont, dumps all ASCII characters from a font by default and offers a method for string layout. Version 1.1 has string spacing settings. Users can find the code on GitHub but beware, it's not for the faint-hearted due to substandard Python skills. Complex glyph rendering may also crash OpenSCAD. The library uses Python, Freetype (2.4.4), and Freetype-py. Usage requires specifying font file, output file, and module name. Optional parameters include string file, character size, z height of characters, starting and ending hex unicode values, spacing between letters, space character, and specific space width. The scad file must include the produced scad, which references font_base.scad. To render a letter, call the module with that letter (or ordinal), while string layouts require a string file.
