OpenSCAD Czech Hedgehog
thingiverse
I was impressed by don_eldarro's "Czech Hedgehog" design, but I wanted a version that closely resembled the real thing without having to take it apart when not in use. Getting exact accuracy with this three-piece approach isn't easy, but I think I've managed to get a bit closer to the source object. I still need to make a few adjustments before calling it complete, but I'm confident enough in the design that I think it's safe to print. This design is built using OpenSCAD, so if you'd like to try out some tweaks yourself, take a look at the script – one notable feature to note is the variable for tolerances. As with any 3D printing project, pay close attention to your settings and fine-tune as needed. I recommend starting without rafts, but consider using supports to keep your print steady during the process. Don't forget to examine the notes included with this design, which contain essential information about assembling the final object. To put it together successfully, place the two large arms facing each other, with the L-shaped holes aligned; then feed the longer end of the tie rod through the middle. The stop on the tie rod is designed to help keep everything in place and should be positioned so it points downwards during assembly.
