OpenSCAD Custom Rocket Designer
thingiverse
Have you ever gazed at a tube lying idle in your home and thought, "Man, I'd love to build a rocket out of that!" Well now, you can! This is a simple compilation of OpenSCAD files that enable you to input the dimensions of a tube (inner and outer radius) and watch as OpenSCAD creates the 3D model. This collection includes 3 main rocket components: Nosecone: The nosecone file generates a straightforward conical nosecone. Coupler: The coupler creates a connecting section so that you can join multiple tubes together. Fincan: The fincan file allows you to set the radius of the motor you wish to use (default is an 18mm motor) as well as the fin shape and position. Instructions To construct a nosecone, coupler or fincan tailored for a specific tube that you intend to use as the airframe, simply modify the variables in the respective .scad files with OpenSCAD. Make sure your fins are properly sized or your flight may not be stable! That's up to you. You can model your rocket in OpenRocket to check if it will be stable.
