OpenROV Underwater Robot

The creator of this OpenROV model used Google Sketchup as a response to an original designer's request for a drawing depicting how he planned to add auxiliary thrusters. The user has not yet received their physical ROV, so the virtual model was created to help visualize and test concepts. Although not 100% accurate due to limitations in importing files, this 99% scaled model served as a helpful tool for the user. A series of videos showcasing the model can be viewed on YouTube, and renders are available in a Flickr album. The creator emphasizes that the model is a work in progress and not suitable for laser cutting parts. It was created using free versions of Google Sketchup and Twilight Render, and took approximately 12 hours to complete. Due to limitations with the Makerbot printer, some pieces cannot be printed together, but if a larger printer were available, the entire model could potentially be printed out.
