I upgraded the engine to a high-performance brushless motor. - Motor: Schnurzz 20G / KV=1350 - 34:1 gearbox from original brushed motor - Rim: Goodson's Hobbies 1.9 & 2.2 Beadlock Wheel 06 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3402987 - Tyre: RC4WD RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 2.2 Scale Tires Z-T0153 I swapped the shaft of the brushless motor with the original shaft and pinion from the original brushed motor, requiring some tricky maneuvers to extract the shaft. - I opened the casing with a saw. - Removed the commutator. - Cut off the copper wire on the rotor. - Pulled off each plate from the rotor one by one. The shaft was finally free and could be removed. The gearbox ratio is 34:1. I reused the gearbox from the old brushed china motor, making slight adjustments to the mounting holes. Currently, I'm using a 2s 20700 battery, but a 3s setup also works. I replaced the wheels with soft rubber crawler wheels, significantly improving traction. I designed an adapter for the 12mm hex-mount of the rim. I also created additional parts to make the powertrain more robust. The motor coupler remains a weak point, prone to melting when the motor gets hot. To address this issue, I added a 30mm cooling fan.
