OpenRC F1 Crash Safe(er) Front Wing

thingiverse

A more robust and crash-absorbing OpenRC F1 front wing design, tailored to work seamlessly with the original nose section. Elastic fixations absorb impact energy on some level, allowing the wing to flex during a collision. Rigorous testing was conducted on an R/C racing circuit by my kids, yielding impressive results: no damage to the front part. Before this upgrade, I frequently had to reattach the front wing pieces multiple times using glue. The design consists of three primary components: 1.) A modified and reinforced front wing with a revised fixation system 2.) A damper and aligner component that ensures proper wing alignment while absorbing impact energy 3.) A circular damping and fixation element M3 screws (10 and 12mm long) and standard M3 nuts are used to secure the wing in place. The front wing is crafted from PETG, identical to the car's entire structure, while connecting elements are made from a flexible filament (the same type used for tires). Printing parameters include a 50% infill rate and four perimeter outlines.
