OpenRC F1 2019 Reinforced front wing
thingiverse
This is a remix I created from the Front wing from the OpenRC 2019 Update, which I sourced here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1193309\r\n\r\nI initially printed the original several times but found it to be somewhat flimsy and prone to breaking after every head-on collision.\r\n\r\nTo strengthen areas that would typically break, I made this modified version and then put it through a series of crash tests. \r\nThis revised front wing withstood numerous hard crashes, suffering only minor scratches. Even the most intense crashes damaged the nose instead of the front wing, so I plan to reinforce the nose next.\r\nAfter multiple attempts, I finally managed to break it by driving over a speed bump at full speed and experiencing a rollover crash that destroyed several components (rear axle mount, the lid, rear wing, rain light diffuser, shark fin, front wing,...).\r\n\r\nUPDATE 30/04/2019:\r\nI've added two new features you might appreciate:\r\n- Front_Wing_MODIFIED_Extra.stl, where I filled in the holes in the arches to reinforce the section around the m3 bolt hole, which appears to be a new weakpoint.\r\n-Front_Wing_MODIFIED_Minimum.stl, where I doubled the thickness of the very front while removing the arches. This allows you to make it more crash-resistant while preserving its appearance.
