This is the foundation project for the OpenForge Wall Construction Kit. The purpose of this project is to provide the fundamental components (stone and plain) that are used in the construction kit for creating wall tiles. This project will be updated as new basic styles of walls and floors become available. To get started, select a base, then follow the links below to choose a floor style and a wall style. Next, prime, paint, add magnets and filament rivets if desired, and glue. There are several challenges I'm working to address with this project moving forward. 1) The sheer volume of available OpenForge pieces has resulted in an explosion of possible combinations, potentially leading to endless variety. However, creating a custom combination or unusual size is relatively easy. 2) Painting certain tiles, particularly Tudor-style ones, proved to be a frustrating experience due to their complex shape. With this project, you can print the tile, paint it separately, and then assemble it, making it much simpler to access hard-to-reach areas. OpenForge has transitioned into a patron-supported project, allowing me to utilize the resources provided by my patrons to create more intricate tiles with greater detail. Please consider supporting me, and I'll continue to deliver an ongoing stream of exciting gaming terrain. Post-Assembly Tips 1) Most printers produce a slight lip on the first layer due to the plastic being compressed. Use a razor to trim this off from both floor tiles and wall pieces, as it can create gaps if left intact. 2) Painting tiles in their individual parts is significantly faster than doing so after assembly. Prime them as separate components, paint them separately, and only then glue the piece together. 3) Printing, painting, and assembling floor tiles with their respective bases in batches can be a highly efficient approach. The floors tend to be quicker to paint and print than the backs, making it easy to have a stockpile of ready-to-assemble pieces as you create new backpieces for them.
