OpenForge 1x1 Terrain Standoff
thingiverse
Note: must be scaled! The purpose of this is to enable you to use square-based terrain features that are not intended to "sit" on the terrain surface of the OpenForge-compatible terrain tiles (thank you, Devon Jones and John Scott for all your hard work!). This design was driven by my current need: place Cave stalagmites in places around a room, without having to adhere the stalagmite to a base. I've included 2 versions, one without a peg in the middle. The intention is to drill a hole in the features (as required) for the peg to sit into while they are in your layout. If you do not want to do this, then use the version without the peg. Happy printing! It's small enough that my printer was able to 'rope bridge' across the diagonals; meaning they are unsupported in the middle. It was a bit wonky for the first layer, but it worked fine. Further testing may be needed, but I plan to keep the printing specs about the same. I imagine if you reduce the print speed or the layer height you may run into issues? ***Scaling Info - below is for 1-in scale terrain*** As designed, the top plate is 3 layers thick at 0.2 mm layer height. In Cura: I scaled the model such that the x & y dimensions are 25.5 mm. Scale as needed to meet your required size. Speed: 80 mm/s Res: 0.2 mm layer height
