Openbuilds v-slot X axis for Lulzbot TAZ 4 or 5 printers or the AO-10X ballscrew modification
thingiverse
This project adds a bolt-on X axis that requires no firmware modification for full support on the Lulzbot Taz 4 and 5 printers, replacing the existing bearing rod in place. Build thread: https://forum.lulzbot.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2252 Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsBAXx0Zjm0 Installation manual is still in the works; however, please note that it won't be available for a few days yet. Edit: The original printed backplate had an error and was too tall. A new corrected version has been designed. Print this one instead of the original. Note that the CNC version remains unchanged and will continue to work fine as is. Edit 2: New endcaps and idler tensioner parts have been uploaded. These updated components are compatible with the existing set. They correct minor issues, making it a worthwhile upgrade for users who want to improve their print quality further. New parts: * Endcaps: These provide additional support to ensure better belt alignment during prints. * Idler Tensioners: Now equipped with improved bearings for smoother movement and less jamming. All the necessary steps to replace your old bearing rod with the new X-axis setup can be found in this thread.
