This is a Floating Nut Plate designed around the Openbuilds Stamped T-Nut (see link below). Simply place the T-Nut between the Nut Plate and the plate you want it attached to, then screw or rivet the Nut Plate into place and you're done. Now you have a "captured" nut floating in place waiting for you to attach something.
