This is a variation of my earlier intricate Dalek design, which was itself based on Audrey2's exceptional Accurate Dalek model. In this iteration, four body panels are mounted on articulated arms enabling the model to be closed up like a standard Dalek or opened to reveal its interior and Kaled mutant inhabitant. I endeavored to make the interior and the mutant as authentic to the series and props as feasible given the limitations of the printer's capabilities and the necessity for functional moving parts and working joints. This is a slightly more complex model to print than the original due to multiple additional movable parts which require snapping together, and the mutant itself being challenging to print. The design was created using Solidworks with Meshmixer employed for detailing on the mutant and producing custom supports. To assemble this Dalek, you will need to print the following components in black: 1x bumper 2x armball 1x core 1x grill-right 1x grill-left 1x eye 1x shoulderarm-left 1x shoulderarm-right You should also print these parts in the base color (brown in this example): 1x skirt 1x shoulder-rear (this may necessitate additional support) 1x shoulder-right (additional support will be needed for this part as well) 1x shoulder-left (additional support required for this component too) 1x ring1 (printed in three pieces at once) 1x ring2 (also printed in three pieces) 1x ring3 (yet again, printed in three pieces) You should also print these parts in black: 1x lamp To begin assembly, snap the shoulder arms into place on the core, making certain they are correctly aligned and seated properly. Next, press the grills over the posts inside the grill areas. As they clip into place, be sure to ensure the open ends of the clips face rearward to avoid visibility. Then attach the eyestalks together by gluing the left and right halves of the eyestalk and then inserting them into the eye piece. Carefully press the swivel part through the slot on the dome from outside and glue it in place using a small piece of 1.75mm filament, ensuring it can still pivot freely. You will also need to attach the dome struts to the core by pressing their snap ends into the appropriate holes on the bottom of the core. Be certain these are properly oriented with the flat side facing rearward towards the interior of the Dalek. Next, clip the left and right grill arms onto the dome struts. The grills should be able to move freely when open or closed. Finally, glue the core down onto the skirt, ensuring a secure connection. The Kaled mutant is particularly difficult to print as it features numerous overhangs and delicate details that will require full support during printing. If you experience difficulties with slicing due to its awkward shape, utilize the custom support I've provided in the design files. When assembling the mutant itself, take extra care not to damage any of its intricate components. After gluing it down onto the core piece, you should have completed the Dalek assembly.
