OpenZ Drift V5 is a Project that builds upon two previous releases which served as prototypes to generate interest and gather input. I had aimed to maintain backward compatibility, but numerous subtle changes required a complete overhaul, resulting in a fully reengineered upgrade. Key improvements over the previous release include 'SLA' (Short Long Arm) suspension geometry, which provides extra camber to the inside wheel during cornering without significant changes from bumps. The King Pin Camber angle has been increased to -8 degrees, yielding an almost perfect scrub radius for this scale car. Minor adjustments have also been made to the steering rack layout and a comprehensive Fusion file containing all planes, sketches, and axes is included for tweaking or animating. Two basic set-ups are provided: one for Drift with 0 Akermans, substantial negative camber, and transfer arms doubling steering travel; and another for Race featuring hubs with 7-degree Akermans, less negative camber, and more to be added. Standard Steering Rack settings are also included, allowing for easy adjustments of toe in and Akermans. Optional lower arm lengths will be introduced at a later stage along with additional parts. Two chassis options are available, accompanied by a dedicated Chassis building file, empowering others to construct their own designs using the provided geometry and parts. Additional components will be added, but a functional setup is currently uploaded, with new parts being optional. For those familiar with Fusion, please note that I am self-taught; for those seeking to learn, my workflow may serve as an inspiration despite not strictly adhering to best practices. A BOM (Bill of Materials) will eventually be included. The Ball Studs measure 4.5mm in diameter, while the suspension pivot pins are 14mm x 2mm in size and constructed from stainless steel bike spokes. Most holes are 1.8mm in diameter with a clearance hole of 2.2mm. The battery is a 400mAh 2S unit (16mm x 20mm x 42mm), and the rear end currently shares similarities with the OpenZ V27.
