Have fun hijacking your objects to make fun toys with "Open Toys" of leFabShop. The "Open Toys" project was born in 2013 during a workshop at Domaine de Boisbuchet directed by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola. Samuel N. Bernier, Creative Director of leFabShop, began reusing scraps of cork and wood to make toys with the help of his 3D printer on site. He created six small accessories that transformed found objects into cars, planes, or helicopters. The idea of replacing wood and cork with fruits and vegetables came by chance during a garden harvesting session. The difficulty of drilling into wood and cork without tools made this change necessary. Nine months later, Thomas Thibault, a trainee in Samuel's team at the creative studio leFabShop in Paris, completed the project. Thibault is the creator of the rocket and submarine added to the collection. Open Toys were first presented to the public in October during a workshop at Autodesk Pop Up Gallery in Paris. Children attending the event passionately hijacked potatoes, eggplants, carrots, and cucumbers into space shuttles, race cars, and watercraft. A Mr. Potato Head was reborn in the era of digital fabrication. Watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZF-KpWNZI8 Share your creations on our Facebook page and Twitter account.
