I'm eager to upgrade my machine, so I proceeded to brutally modify the top off my Thingomatic. It's likely someone has attempted this before, but after scouring the internet, I couldn't find a matching design on Thingiverse. There is indeed a plan... I've devised a strategy to push the X Carriage to its absolute limits - exactly 160mm of belt length between the pulleys and 130mm along the Y carriage towards the front of the machine. This configuration should easily accommodate a build platform measuring 150 X, 120 Y, and 120 Z. Since heat is a concern when working with PLA, I anticipate no issues in that regard. Users who print in public spaces will need to be mindful of safety by applying HOT warnings to exposed parts, but considering these areas weren't previously enclosed behind glass, it shouldn't pose an issue. For those not comfortable modifying their machine's top, they can still capitalize on this carriage mod for prints measuring 150 x 80 x 120.
