Open-source magnetic optics base

thingiverse

The optics base, designed for use with optics equipment in optical experiments, is available as an Open-source optics project component by Michigan Tech's Open Sustainability Technology Research Group. It can be customized using OpenSCAD files and printed on open-source 3D printers. The base comes in two versions: one flat for table use and the other with a magnet hole for attachment to magnetic surfaces. To change between options, modify the line "magnet_hole = true;" in the .Scad file to either "magnet_hole = false;". This project aims to reduce research costs by providing low-cost scientific optical hardware. More information is available at http://www.appropedia.org/Open-source_optics_base and the larger open-source hardware initiative can be read about further.
