The Open-Source Optics Library features a customizable lens holder, designed for use with standard 1 inch diameter lenses on an 8mm rod. The OpenSCAD files allow it to be printed on any preferred open source 3-D printer and include the main holder and thumb screw. To complete the base, visit Thingiverse's page with ID 28133. This project, including designs by Xin and Nick, is part of Michigan Tech's Open Sustainability Technology Research Group's initiative to reduce scientific equipment costs using open-source hardware. The lens holder was published in a PLoS ONE article by Zhang et al. (2013). For more information on the project, visit the provided links.
