Obviously all my sister Makers know hair stays secure in a bun or under a hat when working with spinning tools, but braids are acceptable if they keep it out of our eyes and mouth while soldering etc. As female Makers, we frequently face the challenge of earning credibility wherever we go, much like the "Boy Named Sue" situation. Many of us engage in a battle for respect, taking on an extra level of difficulty when needed (some of us enjoy playing it that way). A small gesture such as showing support for Open Source Software/Open Source Hardware can break the ice and signal our membership in the community, rather than being perceived as just someone's companion. These adorable hair ties print quickly without needing any supports. A tiny drop of superglue secures the loop over a readily available elastic band. In response to the enthusiastic slut-shaming many of my projects receive, I'm attempting to appear as unattractive as possible, LOL.
