Attach your fiber optic cable to an 8mm smooth rod with this open-source holder designed for optical experiments. The Michigan Tech's Open Sustainability Technology Research Group created it as part of their mission to reduce the cost of scientific optical equipment. Customize it using OpenSCAD files, print on your preferred open-source 3D printer and secure the cable in place with a set screw. For similar holders, check out the Open-Source Lab's guide on building affordable hardware. Visit Appropedia for more details or Thingiverse for thumb screw attachments. This project is part of the Open-Source Optics Library by Zhang C, Anzalone NC, Faria RP and Pearce JM, contributing to the overall goal of decreasing scientific equipment costs using open-source hardware.
