Open source face mask with filter and one way valve
thingiverse
This remix of Thingiverse item 4222563 is an ongoing work in progress, with several updates and improvements already underway. I've implemented a one-way valve system and separate filters for intake and outtake of air. This design allows for better moisture control inside the filter fibers, which should significantly prolong its lifespan. Additionally, I've added activated charcoal to the mix by placing it between two layers of cloth in the air intake. This setup not only provides extra air filtering but also increases the chances of viral matter being trapped either in the charcoal or on one of the two filters. If you don't have activated charcoal, you can substitute it with several layers of cloth. The one-way valve is made from transparent folder foil and was cut using a Cricut Maker. However, this component can be easily replicated at home using fine scissors. As of now, some prototype parts are still being printed, which may lead to future corrections and improvements. Until the project is fully assembled, consider this design as an inspiration for potential ideas on how to further enhance it!
