Open Source Camera Holder for Manfrotto Clamp

To avoid spending $20 on clamps for your motion capture cameras, create your own! Initially, I used wooden clamps which worked temporarily, but they warped over time and affected camera calibration. To improve this, I learned Solidworks and designed a new holder that's been working great. Included are the "Final Camera Holder" file, "Single Camera Holder" file (for misprints), and the Camera Post. To assemble your custom camera holder, you'll need a 2" (5/16) non-galvanized carriage bolt, a 1/4" 20 x 3/4 thumbscrew, and a 5/16 butterfly nut (you can choose any length for the bolts). Follow these steps: 1. Connect both halves of the holder together. 2. Insert the carriage bolt and nut through the holes, ensuring the bolt fits into the square indenture with the overhang on the rightmost part of the unit. 3. Insert the post into the bottom base using the smaller end (the base of the markerbot's created post). Make it flush with the whole opening but not pushed through the second hole. 4. Lastly, insert the thumbscrew in the top hole and gently twist and push to create grooves for a tight fit. A bottom thumbscrew isn't necessary. By following these instructions and using the provided files, you can save $400 by creating your own camera holders instead of buying them on eBay!
