This file provides a full guidance on how to build a 4-DOF 3D printed SCARA robot. The field of SCARA robots has seen progress since its invention and has had multiple research papers dedicated to it. Additionally, thanks to the democratisation of technology and open source, it is now possible to make cheap 3D-printed prototypes of SCARA robots that are not only cheap but accurate. The democratisation of technology and open source give people access to the technologies and allow them to customise or improve them. Just like for this project, the design of the robot is taken from an educational web site called HowToMechatronics. The website also provided the code to control the robot. However, the code was not operating. This issue was raised by other individuals who are working on the same project. Therefore, a new code and a new interface were created to replace the non-working code. Hence, improving the technology by replacing the error in the system and disseminating the solution to those who faced the same problems. The code is not perfected yet. However, it allows to make the robot do basic tasks. This project was done at the University of Central Lancashire. And I would to take this opportunity to thank my supervisor and other members of staff. The CAD files can be downloaded from the following link: https://howtomechatronics.com/projects/scara-robot-how-to-build-your-own-arduino-based-robot/ And the changes made can be seen in my dissertation.
