This design features a molded form with buttons, offering a neutral aesthetic from afar while remaining noticeable at close range. It incorporates four LEDs that indicate function availability and code accuracy. The swipe card slot is located on top for easy access, and the plastic surface finish highlights function keys discreetly to maintain Blackboard's branding. To ensure even luminance, a specific plastic grade must be used for the light guides beneath the keys.
