Open R/C - Wind Turbine/Boosters
pinshape
When I was a kid, I thought putting wind turbines on an electric car would make it run on limitless energy. Now that I'm older, I know that's not how it works. Thinking about what to build for the Open R/C contest made me think of this crazy idea again. Instead of making something complicated like adding a generator to recharge the battery, I decided to create a worm gear to make a second engine. Then I connected it to other gears to move stuff around. But it turned out way more complicated than I thought. Making fan blades for the turbine was tough enough; making a worm gear was impossible with my current skills. So the final result wasn't what I had in mind - my worm gear engine looked more like a Gatling gun or something. Then I thought it kind of resembled the Serenity ship from Firefly, so I added rocket boosters to the R/C car. I used Autodesk Fusion 360 to design the parts with the R/C's flow in mind. Without a 3D printer, I have no idea what settings to use or if the part will print without issues.
