Open Multi Copter - Quadcopter
thingiverse
This project aims to develop a fully functional multi copter drone chassis from scratch. Designed using OpenScad, it is an entirely new design inspired by the quadcopter masterpiece created by Daniel Norée, available for viewing here. Although Daniel's design is robust and aesthetically pleasing, it fails to accommodate different electronics or copter gear options. Since Daniel's design is now frozen, I've taken his work as inspiration to create something entirely unique. To ensure maximum compatibility with copter arms from Daniel's design, the project has been crafted in a way that allows for seamless integration of both designs, thereby facilitating easy replacement and exchange of parts between them. The ultimate goal of this project is to achieve full parameterizability: adjusting parameters such as the number of arms, size of the body, battery compartment capacity, and many other features will be made possible. This degree of customizability aims to make the copter chassis adaptable to any requirement, providing limitless flexibility. Certain elements within this project utilize valuable scripting tools provided by Harlan Martin. To obtain the comprehensive package in its entirety, please visit his GitHub repository here. Build Instructions: To build this copter chassis successfully, the following specifications are essential: two shells with 20% infill density. Find a detailed Bill of Materials (BoM) at my GitHub repository for complete hardware requirements. Estimated Print Time & Weight: Upon printing, the copter components have the following weight: - Upper Coaster: approximately 47 grams. - Lower Coaster: around 64 grams. - Top Covering Panel: approximately 66 grams. - Copter Arms (4): about 61 grams per pair, or approximately 244 grams total. - Battery Holder (compatible with a 3s 6000mAh battery pack): roughly 60 grams.
