Why don't you check this video first? https://vimeo.com/134607551 Alexander Graham Bell invented tetrahedral kites while he was trying to make an airplane over a hundred years ago. Two British artists, Heather & Ivan Morrison, recently translated Bell's invention into a flying sculpture called Little Shining Man (2011). I was initially fascinated by the flying sculpture and tried building my own kites according to online instructions on how to build tetrahedral kites with drinking straws and tissue papers, but soon realized this process is quite labor-intensive. So, I attempted designing components for easier kite construction and figured out a way to make the structure collapsible, allowing people to carry or store it more conveniently.
