Open Domed Deck Light

thingiverse

A custom deck light designed for personal use is showcased here. The intention behind its design is to be compatible with 3 and 3.5 Watt G4 LED lamps, as using incandescent bulbs may lead to overheating issues. Be cautious when using this product, as the designer explicitly states that any damage caused will not be their responsibility. The deck light was designed specifically for Rayhoo G4 LEDs and features a faux finish made with Modern Masters Copper and Bronze paint. A good primer is recommended for the basecoat, along with metallic paint to prevent light from seeping through the plastic. The deck light comes equipped with two M4-sized grub screws that provide contact to the power wire and secure the LED in place. The holes are designed at 3.35mm, but depending on the nozzle size, an M3-sized screw might be necessary for larger nozzles as it could print smaller than intended. M4 x 0.7 = 3.3mm, which should thread perfectly into the hole for accurate printing with small nozzles less than .3mm in diameter. M4 x 0.75 = 3.4 mm, used if .7 seems too loose, although it shouldn't be. A #10 wood screw is intended to hold the base down, and the dome is secured with a partial turn. To complete the design, the designer needs to photograph a finished deck light and undergo UL certification testing.
