Open Cornamuse (Alto) - Renaissance Reed-Cap meets RepRap
thingiverse
This Alto Cornamuse design follows Jörg Becker's "Building a Cornamuse in F (Alto)" article. It aims to create a 3D-printable instrument from the Renaissance period, characterized by its reed cap and similarity in sound to crumhorns. Known for its simplicity with a cylindrical bore, reed-cap instruments like the Cornamuse are ideal for 3D printing due to easily sourced reeds, adaptability to various materials, and minimal keys. The printable files include ReedCap, UpperSlice, LowerSlice, and EndCap. The UpperSlice and LowerSlice are joined via interference fit and glue, while traditional silk-wrapped joints are used at the ends of the main body. The bore diameter is currently 8mm but may be reduced post-design.
