A Custom Cable Chain Design for Enhanced Printer Management ===================================== Remixed from the Original Thingiverse Post (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:11978) ================================----- Objective: To create a custom cable chain design that eliminates the top bar, incorporating springy clips instead, to keep cables organized while allowing easy replacement and management. Files included: ---------------- * new-chain.scad - Main OpenSCAD source file with module definitions. * nobar_sixteen.stl & nobar_sixteen.scad - An array of 16 cable chain links suitable for a 6-inch bed. * spring_sixteen.stl & spring_sixteen.scad - An array of 16 spring clips to secure the links. * end_two.stl & end_two.scad - Two pieces for the cable chain ends. Solidoodle Specific Components: ------------------------------ * barclip.stl & barclip.scad - Special clip to hold an 8mm rod near the Solidoodle's top for chain support. Prints require setting "detect thin walls" in Slic3r or risk faulty supports. * extruder-chain-mount.stl & extruder-chain-mount.scad - Infrastructures built on the mk5 extruder filament clip, requiring prints with supports due to complex designs. * filament-cap.stl & filament-cap.scad - Cap for the top filament guide on the extruder-chain-mount, ensuring a secure fit without jamming. Miscellaneous: ---------------- * top-chain-mount.stl & top-chain-mount.scad - Special mount to be placed in the back corner of the Solidoodle, allowing cables to drop through and connect to the motherboard. * mk5_extruder_filament_guide_fixed.stl - Extracted file from Thingiverse (111213), suitable for specific Solidoodle components. To create just the cable chain: 1. Print a copy of end_two.stl 2. Print one or more copies of nobar_sixteen.stl and spring_sixteen.stl, depending on the desired length of your chain Installation Guidelines: ---------------------- * Print two barclip parts (23 links require two pieces for each part), as well as one extruder-chain-mount, filament-cap, and top-chain-mount part. Additionally, an 8mm rod is needed. Customizing the Design: ------------------------ This remix incorporates new clips that replace the original use of filament bits in version bad-chain.scad (which is now obsolete).
