Production kicked off for these vehicles back in April 1937 and lasted until 1944. Clearly, this truck led the pack in Germany, as a staggering total of 82,356 units were manufactured under the Third Reich's production umbrella over the years. A groundbreaking innovation was introduced to Opel trucks in 1936 - drive on both axles became a reality. The Opel Blitz was assigned the index 3.6-6700 with "Allrad" being the German word for all-wheel drive. Equipped with the all-wheel drive feature, the Blitz could conquer steep mountainous terrain with slopes reaching as high as 70%. Driver control over the front axle transmission made navigating obstacles a breeze. Taking it up a notch, Opel also brought to life an innovative crawler drive variant, aptly named the Opel Blitz Maultier.
