Oogoo Bonding Mesh with Laird Popkin's OpenSCAD Custom Mesh Generator
thingiverse
This is a prototype plate designed to evaluate a three-dimensionally printed Oogoo bonding mesh. As Oogoo cannot be reliably secured with adhesive to most plastics, a mechanical bond is essential. The Oogoo is carefully spread into the mesh following thorough mixing and blending with a spatula-like spreader. Upon curing, it becomes permanently embedded within the structure of the mesh. Tests suggest that bonding strength typically ranges between 25psi and 50psi, though estimates predict it can be improved up to 100psi by optimizing both mesh architecture and Oogoo mixture formulations. The custom openSCAD mesh generator was skillfully crafted by Laird Popkin. Multiple settings can be modified, including the layer count, tube diameter, tubes per inch, as well as plate dimensions for length and width through software manipulation.
