OO/HO TRACK PENCIL HOLDER MKII
thingiverse
I just had to take the next step after creating the previous version, as I was itching to do this all along, but took the easy route, and thanks to the interest in the MKI http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2025266, here is the MKII. Countless times I've had to carefully trace a piece of track to mark out where I want to lay the underlay, or accurately mark out the curved form-work to lay the track. Of course, one doesn't have a set of radius curves in every size on hand, so this simple device paired with the OO/HO FLEXITRACK CURVE FORMING CLAMPS from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2023001 allows you to make a radius template of any size you like, and it's not limited to model railway uses either. The pencil needs to slide smoothly in the holder and may require some extra weight added. Wheels are mounted on a 2mm axle, but might need changing to suit what you have lying around. Post-Printing wheel slots The axle slots are set at 2mm but will print tightly so I used a 2.5mm drill run through the bottom of the slot, so the axle needs to be pushed past the narrow part and will snap into place. The bogie is 13mm wide, so it may need to be adjusted to suit your axles.
