I'm using my Celestron as a tripod to film with my One Plus 3 phone. I use my tripod with a phone case attached. On the original design, I didn't use the standard screw - instead, I used a regular screw. If I were to change things, I'd make two main modifications: Firstly, I'd increase the height of the support by 2 or 3 mm so that I can use the original screw again. Secondly, I'd widen the phone support with some extra reinforcements. Currently, it's only 1mm thick - I think a 2mm thickness would be better.
