one way valve
grabcad
One way valve, used to allow fluid flow in one direction only while preventing back-flow. This design relies on incoming flow pressure opening a port, which then closes due to opposing fluid pressure when trying to flow in the opposite direction. Key components are printable using 3D printers, making this design suitable for low-cost ventilators. However, several drawbacks have been identified, rendering it impractical for use in ventilators. These include: 1) The need for a spring to ensure smooth back movement; 2) Directional placement of the valve; and 3) Limiting the port's opening angle to less than 90 degrees. Efforts will be made to address these issues in the next design iteration. This design is available free at Thingiverse and GrabCAD, and any suggestions for improvement are welcome.
