Marshall D. Teach, better known as Blackbeard (黒ひげ, Kurohige), is the Admiral of Blackbeard's Crew and is currently one of the Four Emperors. Teach is a former member of the second division of The Whitebeard Crew which was led by Portgas D. Ace. He killed Thatch, Commander of the fourth division, to take over the Yami Yami no Mi. He temporarily became one of the 7 Grand Corsairs by defeating Ace and turning him over to the Navy, but he decided to give up his title after he and his crew killed Whitebeard during the siege of Marine Ford. He is one of the main antagonists of One Piece and the only person known to have absorbed two different Demon Fruits. He is the second antagonist of the Jaya arc after Bellamy. He is the third antagonist of the Impel Down arc after Magellan and Hannyabal. He is the third antagonist of the Marine Ford Arc just after Sengoku and Sakazuki.
