One music camp lamp shade

Maintaining forests demands regular thinning to prevent overcrowding and promote healthy growth. Unfortunately, without a market for these trees, they often end up discarded, underscoring the need for creative solutions that maximize their value. A unique music festival format called "camp festivals" has gained popularity in recent years. Project Festival is a prime example of this type of event, attracting over 100,000 attendees to its three-day celebration. The atmosphere is electric as fans gather to watch live performances by their favorite artists amidst the stunning natural surroundings. People flock to these events seeking immersive experiences that connect them with the environment. We realized that there was an opportunity to bridge memories and locations. To address this need, we brought laser cutters to camp festivals and set up workshops where attendees can create unique pieces using lumber from local thinning operations. The process is straightforward: participants use a laser cutter to carve images onto rounded wood slices, which can include personal sketches, logos, or photos taken on-site. Given the diverse shapes and sizes of these logs, each carving produces a one-of-a-kind art piece. By participating in these workshops, we hope that people will begin to think more critically about how to make better use of forests. At One Music Camp 2018's Fablab Collaboration Workshop (Laser Cutter Workshop), attendees used laser cutters to create an LED lamp shade inspired by the festival's logo. Participants are encouraged to 3D print this design at home or visit a local FabLab for output. The required LEDs can be found in Misc Notes, along with purchasing instructions.
