Once Upon a Time card game box
thingiverse
This is a custom-designed replacement for the cardboard box of the popular card game Once Upon a Time, originally published by Atlas Games in 1995. The original box was notoriously flimsy and prone to disintegration. To create a sturdier alternative, I designed this box to accommodate not only the standard game cards but also those from the Dark Tales expansion. If you own additional expansions, you may need to adjust the model's depth to ensure a snug fit. A slight gap in the inner walls of the card tray allows for the inclusion of the rule booklet, ensuring everything fits neatly inside. The card trays measure 57mm x 88mm, matching the dimensions of my 1995 edition cards (56mm x 87mm). However, please note that newer editions might use slightly different card sizes. When printing the box top, consider enabling supports for the embossed lettering to prevent sagging or filament deformation. In my print, I didn't enable supports, resulting in some visible sagging around the recessed letters. To facilitate easy lid removal without making it too loose, I designed the box lid 0.4mm wider than the base. This subtle difference worked perfectly for my printer, allowing the lid to be removed effortlessly while still maintaining a slight friction that prevents accidental detachment. Designing this custom box was done using Sketchup.
