On the War Trail at The Art Institute of Chicago, USA

Canadian-born sculptor Alexander Phimister Proctor launched his career by creating animal sculptures, earning recognition alongside Edward Kemeys for their works at Chicago's 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Following five years of study in France, however, Proctor shifted his focus to large-scale figural studies, particularly exploring the American West. On the War Trail is a condensed version of a monumental bronze commissioned for Denver's Civic Center in Colorado. Dignified and erect, with a Native American spear thrust boldly outward, horse and rider offer a striking contrast to James Earle Fraser's dejected subject in 'The End of the Trail' also available on Scan the World. This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for public access. Scan the World is an open source community effort, if you have interesting items around you and want to contribute, email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can help.
