Omphalos Apollo
myminifactory
This discovery predates a renowned ancient statue of Omphalos Apollo by centuries. The sculpture's head was unearthed in Baiae's baths, situated east of the area known as Mercury's sector. A nearby base featured an omphalos, or navel, symbolizing the mythical center of the world. This origin story is where Apollo got its name from, but it is now widely accepted that the sculpture and the base were created at different times.
