OmniStand Top Mount Filament Spool Stand
thingiverse
It seems you have provided instructions for installing an OmniStand Top Mount system onto a FlashForge Dreamer 3D printer and possibly another similar printer, Dremel Idea Builder. ### Components Required: - Full hex nuts (M3x0.5mm pitch) - Bolts (3 mm bolts with Allen sockets on the cap) These can be purchased through Amazon as specified in the provided links: * <http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B3RJ7FI> * <http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B3RL4AE> ### Choosing Filament: For printing and testing all parts, ABS filament is recommended for the FlashForge Dreamer with a heated build plate. For other printers that do not have a heated bed or if using a Dremel printer, PLA can be used. ### Printing Settings: - The stand base prints without support, printed flat. - Print stand parts at 0.10 mm layer height and minimum support to fit well on top of the OmniStand. - All stand pieces are designed with minimal print layers but will be strong enough to work well. - Spool rods need 3 mm bolt threads so use this info if your spool rod is a custom design. ### Quick Connect Stand Installation: #### Step-by-Step Instructions **1. Removing existing nuts and bolts** To install the OmniStand Top Mount base, start by removing the printer's top lid. This requires removal of all attachments in order to have good access. 2. Remove all 4 of the original mounting points on back from printer. 3. Take four bolts of appropriate length and place them through stand top plate and make sure they're through correct holes on OmniStand. Make sure everything is ready for step 4 by following photo examples at bottom for best setup. **4. Attaching Stand to Base:** Use four new longer bolts with an Allen wrench or similar (these are part #5 at left above), to attach base by running all of them from bottom plate through base hole as shown above in 1st photo. 5. Install stand's end cap using one screw. It will go into rod, when installed in your print job as below in figure a: 6. Now use top base lock and snap the plastic tab in for installation of your final setup. When installing rod through bottom, turn your hand 90 degrees so the bolt is locked on right side by tightening until hand reaches middle. Turn to loosen when changing. ### Locking The Stand Rod. The stand uses a new style lever based locking mechanism using spring loaded locking button. - The button on end of spring should lock down to secure position and not come back out. - Spring keeps lock switch operational between the left or right and "out". - Lever in 1st mode when fully turned (unlocked, hand resting) means rod can now move around freely with full use and is ready to operate at best efficiency. - Rod must always start on "down position". By doing so we avoid warping. Now install and adjust lock rod's bolt end according to this information. Lock Rod in by hand and let loose after first pull until hand can just slip free with very little tension from above lock position of rod in stand when it's turned down, The spool you installed the spool and will use this now. With OmniStand connected, simply put new spring back to left side then place spring under stand as before and install top of print base lid on the printer again. This is not an automatic design at present.
