OMNIFIXO Field Box Remixed for Pinecil
thingiverse
I remixed the Omnifixo field box to make a few changes that work better for me and to fit the Pinecil soldering iron. I am including 2 versions, 1 uses the originally called for 5mmx5mm magnets glued in per the original design. I did not test this one, I am only including it for those who may have printed the previous one and want to easily move to this one without buying new/different magnets. The 2nd one uses K&J Magnets DB42 1/4x1/8" magnets which are my preference. On that version, the magnets get covered by the 3D print (also my design preference). Basically you need to add a pause to your g-code when layer 99 (19.8mm) finishes and before layer 100 starts (20mm). Drop your magnets in during the pause and resume. Layer 100 will encapsulate the magnets. In my case the magnets friction fit. If they are ending up loose for you, you can use a small drop of glue to retain them in so that the toolhead doesn't pull them back up before they are covered. Again, this wasn't an issue for me but YMMV, These are the K&J Magnets that I like, they are a little pricier than cheap amazon magnets, but they are strong. https://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D42B-N52 List of changes.... - Made everything on Z-Axis in multiples of .2mm so that features start and stop on even layer numbers. - Made the overall depth of the box 3.4mm deeper to accommodate the pinecil. - Made the recess for the OMNI plate a little deeper so that the plate fits better/more flush inside the box - Added 4 more magnets (up to 6) for increased hold-down strength. I want to be able to throw this in my backpack without concern that it will come apart. Enjoy.
