Omnidroid - Pixar's Incredibles

This week I'm bringing you guys the Omnidroid from the Incredibles. I modeled it in Fusion 360 using sketches and various tools to get these shapes just right. It's mostly simple shapes like a big sphere with smaller spheres attaching its legs. The feet are pretty basic shapes arranged in a plus shape. The legs are really where the bulk of the design work comes in, requiring some intricate modeling techniques. In this video, you can see what I did next: taking a sketched line and lofting a rectangle shape along it. Then, I created an 's' shape on one side and patterned that along the path of each leg. After printing it (check out these settings below), my wife took over, sanding it down and spraying it with filler primer before sanding some more. Next, she used her airbrush to paint it black. The only thing left was painting the eye red - a job she completed with a paintbrush and some acrylic paint.
