Omni Wheel for Servos
thingiverse
UPDATE 2016-09-26: I've switched to standard off-the-shelf omni wheels because I was unhappy with the traction from ninjaflex tires. DesignSpark Mechanical drawings for these wheels are now uploaded if anyone wants to continue working on this design. This design is an omni wheel that mounts directly onto a servo horn and is designed to be assembled using 4-40 hex socket head machine screws. The axles used are LEGO Technic axles, four pegs long. Each roller consists of two parts with a hub and ninjaflex tires. The first test print of the hard parts came back very good, but I've adjusted some screw holes to ease printing and assembly, and adjusted tolerances so that the ends of the rollers don't need to be sanded for smooth rolling. The rollers had to be drilled out with a 13/64" bit so that they have nice smooth bearing surfaces. Tire test is mostly positive. Ninjaflex isn't the most inherently grippy material, but it does a lot better than naked PETG. Printed with 100% infill, the tires have just enough stretch to be forced over the roller wheels. I had layer adhesion issues which complicated things a bit, but this is only my second time trying ninjaflex, so I'm gonna give it another shot a little hotter and a little slower. Once they're on the wheel, the tires really seem to stay centered well.
