Update: 5/25/2019 Increased the rollers diameter, giving them more room to move and roll smoothly. This was achieved by increasing the gap between the main wheel and rollers, allowing for a smoother ride. Added Motor mounts hub with bores of 5, 6 & 8mm, providing a secure attachment point for the motor. Designed an Omni Directional Wheel with a diameter of 140mm, making it easier to print and assemble. The increased size also allows for more rollers, which should provide a smoother ride. Fingers crossed that this design will work as intended. Testing is still underway, but the first printed wheel rolls smoothly. Note: This project requires a well-calibrated printer to ensure accurate prints. Hardware: * 3mm filament for the axels * 30 - M3 (8mm L) button head screws * 30 - M3 nuts Printed Parts: * 2 Bolted halves * 2 Nut halves * 1 Spacer (optional, needed if rollers rub together) Assemble: The assembly process is straightforward. Follow these steps for a successful build. 1. Rotate the two halves to see the best possible alignment. The wheel may not be perfectly round, so some adjustments will be necessary. 2. Make sure all the nut and screws fit in the slots. Carefully clean up any excess material with a X-acto knife. 3. Place all the wheels and axels on the first half of the wheel. This is a good time to check that all the wheels turn freely. 4. Using the alignment marks from step 1, add the top half onto the assembled pieces. 5. Carefully pick up the whole assembled part and add the screws and nuts. 6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the next wheel assembly. 7. Sandwich the spacer piece between the two assemblies. To ensure proper clearance, mirror the two assemblies so that all the nuts are on the outside. The button head screws provide better clearance for the small wheel. 8.
