OMC Cobra Pinion Nut Starter
thingiverse
I made this tool to hold the OMC Cobra lower unit pinion nut in place to start it. You need to screw a long 1/4 screw into the end to get a usable length (my printer is not big enough to do that). I did not uses any special tools in my lower unit repair except for a seal puller to get the prop seals out (I already had one). You can remove the pinion nut using an open end wrench. See the Michael Romer video on youtube. I held the drive shaft with a 12 pt 13/16 socket on the splines but it will wedge on there so you need to hammer it off after you torque it. You will not damage the splines; they are case hardened. I used compressed air to get the prop bearing carrier out; there is another video on that.
